Electrostatic classifiers and DMAs are the tools of choice for measuring the size of sub-micron particles. These instruments work together to use the electrical mobility technique to determine particle size. This technique is the most appropriate way to measure the size of particles smaller than one micron. Indeed, ISO 15900 states that electrical mobility is the preferred mechanism, globally, for sub-micron particle measurement.
