You get best-in-class sensitivity, uptime, and ease of use, future-proofing your investment to address increasingly challenging regulatory requirements.
ExtractaBrite ion source
Part of Thermo Scientific NeverVent technology, the Thermo Scientific ExtractaBrite ion source technology delivers proven rugged electron impact (EI) and chemical ionization (CI) performance. The source is removable for maintenance or switching ionization modes without breaking vacuum. In addition, by exchanging the ion source with the V-Lock source plug, GC columns can be replaced without venting.
To protect analyte integrity and maximum robustness, the ExtractaBrite ion source is comprised of highly inert material. It is also heated throughout to prevent mass analyzer contamination and to ensure matrix tolerance for high-throughput work. As a result, there is never a need to heat or clean the quadrupoles.
Advanced Electron Ionization (AEI) source
The ultra-robust, ultra-sensitive Advanced Electron Ionization (AEI) source is available in dedicated ISQ 7000 GC-MS and TSQ 9000 GC-MS/MS system configurations. Highly efficient ionization, a tightly focused ion beam, and heating throughout the source reduce mass spectrometer contamination, extend system uptime, and lower instrument detection limits to unprecedented levels. With ultra-high sensitivity, the AEI source can also help reduce sample concentration steps and consequent matrix pressure on the analytical system.
Part of the TSQ 9000 triple quadrupole GC-MS/MS system, Enhanced Velocity Optics Collision Cell (EvoCell) technology boosts sample throughput with very high selected-reaction-monitoring (SRM) transition speeds, providing enhanced precision and sensitivity for even the most complex methods. Timed-SRM (t-SRM) software automates optimization of SRM scheduling.
EvoCell technology can be used to increase the scope of SRM methods to fit a wider range of compounds and matrices, increase sample throughput by compressing GC time, or increase method resistance to interferences, matrix effects, and retention time shifts.
Patented Thermo Scientific NeverVent technology delivers UNSTOPPABLE GC-MS uptime. Used with the ExtractaBrite ion source, the vacuum probe interlock (VPI) and the V-Lock source plug isolate the vacuum region of the mass spectrometer from the gas chromatograph, allowing routine source cleaning, and ion source and column changing, without venting.
The dual filament design extends instrument uptime. Both filaments produce similar analytical performance so you can switch from one to the other without impacting analytical performance. To simplify operation, the dual filament assembly is used for both EI and CI modes.
The optimized GC-MS transferline evenly distributes heat across the length of the analytical column, ensuring that there are no hot or cold spots, which in turn delivers Gaussian peak shapes, even for high boiling point compounds.
Ion source probes
Optional ion source probes enable you to perform real-time MS and MS/MS experiments on solid samples with easy switching between EI and CI modes. Like the ExtractaBrite ion source, the probes can be removed without venting.
Available ion source probes:
Direct Insertion Probe (DIP) for rapid analysis of components in solid matrices.
Direct Exposure Probe (DEP) for rapid molecular weight confirmation of solids dissolved or suspended in liquid solvents.
Pressure to increase productivity, and the growing list of compounds that laboratories must quantify and screen, necessitate workflow-driven software.
